J.Crew Slub Cotton Henley Review

via factory.jcrew.com

via factory.jcrew.com

Labor Day has come and passed, marking the unofficial end of summer. With that comes the start of the snarky comment "don't you know you can't wear white after Labor Day?" Thanks Brittany, we get it.

In order to quell Brittany's sass we have collected a few items that aren't technically white, but close so you can yell at Brittany "It's not technically white Brit, so back off I look good!" To kick us off, an oatmeal colored slub cotton henley from J.crew. This will be a Fall standard as a stand alone top or in a layer scheme. Pair with browns and black and greens and blues, and most other colors because it's oatmeal, but can basically function as white, Brittany.

Adidas NMD Pink Five Panel Hat Review

via Adidas.com

via Adidas.com

They say real men wear pink, and apparently Fridays have become hat days on WIAG. This Adidas NMD pink hat will top off this "from the feet up" streetwear selection week. The 5-panel is super comfy and stays on your head better than the classic "dad" hats, and is great for those who bike and wear helmets, as the brim sits low enough to accommodate most standard noggin protectors. Outside of it's functionality, this hat is different (think about the last time you saw a guy in a pink hat). If you have the confidence to pull this off, you deserve to wear it and wear it well. This goes with everything else from this week and can be added to any light or dark ensemble as a small statement piece.

Available on Adidas.com for $14

Levi's Trucker Jacket (StoneBridge Wash) Review

via Levis.com

via Levis.com

The jean jacket is a layer that you may not need now, but will come in handy in the next few weeks as the 90 degree days start to dissipate. The Levi's Trucker Jacket is a Fall staple, and one that should be in your closet. Paired with a plain or graphic t-shirt, a henley, a button down, even more denim, cotton chinos, shorts, you name it, this jacket can go with almost anything casual. So channel your inner, more hipster, James Dean and grab one of these and toss it on the next time you go to a bonfire or out to drinks when the Fall crisp starts to rear it's head.

SaturdaysNYC White Orchid T-shirt Review

via Saturdaysnyc.com

via Saturdaysnyc.com

This kind of block graphic T-shirt has been growing in popularity for a while now. This "California desert hipster" look as we call it has been making it's way around the country at a very fast pace, with supreme, Gucci, and Louis-V hopping on the style train. The good news is, you don't have to pay $130 for a t-shirt. While $48 is still a bit steep, this one is worth it. The orchid graphic is different and a good size, with nothing extra on the back. It's clean and simple. It will go well with black, green, or maroon pants, jeans, shorts, and what ever sneaker you want. Snag it and pair it with your other summer staples.

Available on SaturdaysNYC.com for $48

DSTLD Men's Skinny Selvedge Chino Pants in Charcoal Review

via DSTLD.com

via DSTLD.com

We've reviewed these before in the goods, but DSTLD has come out with another color: charcoal, and they look awesome. These paired with the Nike Huaraches we posted yesterday look killer together. These selvedge chinos are a little thicker than your cheap J.crew, or Banana chinos, but they will last longer. Just be sure to order a pair you can cuff at the bottom to show of the selvedge detail, that's the crucial selling point in these. That self-edged fabric flair is the tall tale sign of quality for pants, so show the people "in the know" that you're in the club too.

Nike Air Huarache Drift SE Review

via Nike.com

This week's theme is curb appeal, aka streetwear attire. SO it kick it off, lets go with an old staple: Nike Huaraches. While Nike Huarache's have been around since '91, they haven'y always looked like this. With an original inspiration from South American sandals and waterski boots, this once game-changing running shoe is now a street icon. The Huarache goes with pretty much all of your casual clothes and can be rocked on a weekday night out, or a weekend out and about. The cred is real, and this shoe looks real good. Pair with jeans, black, green, or maroon chinos, heck wear 'em with shorts and no shows, it all looks dope.

Outdoor Research Seattle Sombrero Review

via Huckberry.com

via Huckberry.com

While this isn't what we would suggest you wear in the city, or to your local bar (unless you've already achieved that kind of outdoorsy dad status) this hat is pretty perfect for the rainy days on the trail. No one carries an umbrella while hiking, it's simply impractical, but then how do you keep your face mildly dry during a dirt trail downpour? This Seattle Sombrero is not only awesomely named, it is one of the highest reviewed rain and sun shelter dome-pieces on the market making it our top choice for those who say "screw it" to rain delays. So if you are going camping for a few days or just trail running on a day with 55% chance of showers, this hat is definitely worth packing.

Everlane's The City Jacket

via Everlane.com

via Everlane.com

Probably the most important piece of your rainy day get up. The city jacket from Everlane is made of 100% polyester, which is water resistant but that also means it's not very moisture wicking, so whiel this jacket doesn't breathe a whole lot, it does keep you dry. The hood and the zipper flap reduce the need for an umbrella if you don't feel like carrying one, and the wrist straps help keep your long sleeve from peaking out beyond the coat and your cuffs dry. Everlane is known to keep the price down, and this jacket is no different, as similar jackets from others manufactures sit in the $110-$280 range.

Hunter Boots Men's Short Rain Boots

via Hunterboots.com

via Hunterboots.com

Hunter Boots are a classic piece of British hunting apparel. In fact, these are so British that they are the official hunting apparel of the Queen herself (along with the Duke of Edinburgh). These are for those who care about the classics, about quality, and about keeping their feet dry. These short rain boots, are the more practical version of the full-length (tall) galoshes, and while these aren't what you'll see during the last season of The Crown, they still have the iconic red, white, and black Hunter Logo, and carry the same amount of impact.

Totes Stick Umbrella

via totes.com

via totes.com

A stick umbrella is the proper name for the longer, more classic-looking umbrella with a curved handle. Many companies make these, and many are in the $300-$5000 range, boasting elegant wood choices and extremely valuable metal details. This totes stick umbrella doesn't have any fancy parts but it does work, and it does look better than your run-of-the-mill collapsible umbrella. This umbrella has the necessary metal tip to allow you walk with it like a cane if you so desire, and has the classically designed hook handle so you can hang it up or drape it on your arm. If you want to elevate the look without the price tag this is the one for you.

Available on totes.com for $20

United By Blue Log Cabin Out-of-Doors Candle (8.5 oz)

via UnitedByBlue.com

via UnitedByBlue.com

We know this isn't exactly in the "decor" theme this week, but the nose notices just as much as the eyes do, so were putting in this week.

Usually the indoors are a place to relax and keep the outside, out. But sometimes we want parts of the outside in, like the smell of a log cabin in late Fall. Enter this hand-poured, Philadelphia-made, environmentally responsible candle from United By Blue. Not only does this candle smell better than it looks, it is made with GMO-free soy wax, and a cotton wick, meaning it burns clean and has little impact on the environment. The only thing bad about this candle is we wish it came in a bigger size.

Watson Arch Lamp in Brass

via Houzz.com

via Houzz.com

If you have a living space with limited side table or coffee table space, then an arch lamp like this one is a game changer. Not only is is a unique lighting fixture that adds to a more mature and sophisticated aesthetic, it frees up space on your counter, tables, and shelves for other things, like books, glasses, and decorative pieces. With this lamp we suggest using it as more mood lighting than task lighting and using an Edison bulb to make it really look antique.

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline Review

via barnesandnoble.com

via barnesandnoble.com

Let's end this week on a fun note. This book has gotten a lot of hype this year due to the movie adaptation that came out in the spring. Like many other book to movie adaptations, the book is way better than the film. So if you saw the film, and want to read the book, prepare for a slightly different weave to this nerdy, fun, cheer-on-the-protagonist, popcorn tale. This book was a super quick read, as Ernest Cline does a great job of ending chapters with cliff hangers and planning a story out to entice you throughout its various stages. If you are looking for a fun book to read on the beach or to mentally break from your long days of analytical work, then I suggest this great ride through his not-so-out-of-reach VR world.

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson Review

via Amazon.com

via Amazon.com

If you are a little stuck, in the "I'm not sure what I'm doing with my life" stage, or probably most applicable, thinking "I have a great job and make good money and I'm still not happy" this book is your new bible. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck by Mark Manson is an abrasive, in-your-face, funny, tome chalk-full of realizations and stop-complaining motivational messaging disguised as an anti-self-help book. Mark is the kick in the ass needed to really prioritize the things you truly want, a forceful reminder to not sweat the small stuff in order to only allow the things that really matter to hold weight in your life.
